Pick the layout before the model
Electrical Safety First describes four broad styles of air fryer on sale in the UK: basket, oven, dual-drawer and paddle. The listing here covers the first three. A single basket or drawer, such as the Cosori 2L or the Ninja AF140UK, suits one or two people and cooks everything at one setting. A dual layout, such as the Ninja AF400UK, the Philips NA350/00 or the Bosch MAFD490B0G, lets two foods run at different settings, and the manufacturers describe ways to make them finish together.
The Bosch is a variation on that idea: Bosch describes one extra-large 10 L drawer that becomes two 5 L zones when a divider is fitted. An oven-style model, such as the Tefal FW605840 or the Tower T17122, keeps food on racks behind a door instead of in a drawer, which suits trays, dishes and a rotisserie but takes the most space.
Read capacity as food, not litres
A litre figure is a volume, not a measure of how much food cooks evenly. Where a maker states what fits, that is the better guide: Ninja says the 4.7 L AF140UK takes a whole 1 kg chicken or up to 500 g of fries, and the AF180UK’s 6.2 L square drawer fits up to four chicken breasts. A dual model’s headline figure is usually a total shared between two drawers, so a single large item is limited by one drawer.
Bigger is not automatically better. A larger machine takes more worktop and is harder to wash, so choose for the meals you cook most and accept that the occasional large meal may need two batches.
Check the space around it
Measure the worktop and the gap under any wall cupboard before you compare features. Manufacturers print dimensions in different orders, so the cards quote them exactly as printed. Tower gives the T17122 as 37.5 cm high, 46 cm wide and 43.4 cm deep, and Cosori gives the TurboBlaze’s depth as 40 cm, so both need a generous slot.
Leave room to ventilate. Tefal’s manuals for its two models ask for at least 15 cm of free space around the appliance and say not to put it in a corner or under a wall cupboard, and the advice is sensible for any air fryer. Check the cable length against your nearest socket as well.
Cleaning decides whether you keep using it
Look at which parts come out and which can go in the dishwasher. Tefal lists the EY942BG0’s drawers and grids as dishwasher safe but says the FW605840’s accessories are not, so they are washed by hand. Bosch, Philips, Ninja and Cosori each say some parts of the models listed here are dishwasher safe, and the cards quote the wording.
Follow the manual on coatings. Non-stick surfaces are normally damaged by metal utensils and abrasive pads, and Electrical Safety First advises letting an air fryer cool fully before cleaning it.
How this list was made
We chose models that show different layouts and sizes, not different colours of the same machine, and we left out any model whose exact Amazon.co.uk listing or manufacturer specification we could not confirm. The list is not a ranking and makes no claim about sales or value. One card is marked as a featured example to illustrate the page, and the card says why.
Prices, stock, star ratings and review counts change constantly and Amazon only allows them to be shown from its own site, so each button takes you to Amazon.co.uk to check the current price and availability.
